Anorexia Overview

Anorexia nervosa is a disease that affects millions of women and men worldwide. It has devastating effects on a person's entire body if left unchecked. As many as 4% of American women have suffered from it at some point in their lives.

Women are not alone. It is estimated that 1 million American men suffer from eating disorders. Despite heightened awareness of the dangers of eating disorders, rates of anorexia are increasing among both adults and teens. In addition, many children are developing the disorder at a younger age.
