A Tragic Start to the New Year

I just wanted to take a moment to say how saddened I am by the tsunami tragedy. The scope of it is almost impossible to grasp. I've cried so many times while seeing video and images of children and adults who have lost everyone and everything. What really struck me was the kindess of the Thai and Sri Lankan people. One man said he felt bad for the tourists who were killed or injured because they were guests in his country. It's terrible that it often takes a tragedy to prove to us that people are kind and that they will come together when necessary. I think sometimes all we see is the violence and hate out there (thanks to the evening news that dwells on the negative) and we forget that there really is an overwhelming amount of love and kindness in the world.

The storms here in California have been terrible. A tornado passed through my town this morning and about 15 minutes to the north, a mudslide took the lives of several people and destroyed many homes. This past two weeks has brought more rain to California than we usually see in a year.

It appears that 2005 is starting off in a dramatic way. Let's hope Nature has gotten it out of her system and that the rest of the year will bring brighter days.

Hi Tracy,
The hustle and bustle of Holiday preparations and the actual Holiday visits and meals .... and then news of the tsunami, so tragic.
I agree that it's sad that there has to be something so awful that brings people together for us to realize good contributions and kind acts everyday.
I think all of us lost some time right after, kindal like 9/11....couldn't believe it, yet it's true and couldn't get away from the newscasts.
Hope your acupuncture went well; I had a Dr. of chinise medicine specializing in massage and traditonal chinese medicine, who was visiting me from China, do acupuncture on me several times during her visit, along with other strange but healing things. Putting the needles in wasn't so bad, but I had some in my hands and if I moved a finger the least bit, PAIN. It did reduce my pain.Unfortunately she has returned to China, but the chiropractor I'm seeing now practices holistic medicine and acupuncture also. No needles yet for me. His holistic chiro treatment is helping to reduce my pain levels a lot. My sis has been trying to get me to see this guy for 7 years...glad I finally got around to it!!
Hugs and Cudos on the great work you do here,
Judy
