Fibromyalgia's secret weapon: Fibro Fog

Hi :)

I was reading and replying to Lee's entries re 'chemo brain' (she's a cancer survivor posting here). And as I wrote to her that I could really understand because of my Fibro Fog, I started to go further into it than a 'reply' warranted, so I'm posting more about Fibro Fog here today.

Lee's post said what I feel, the short-term memory and other brain malfunctions make us feel like idiots...when we are NOT!

Fibro fog creates a crazy filter and info leaving my head via my mouth gets jumbled up, dyslexic speech(like big tree would come out trig bee), rambling and then not remembering what I was talking about or just said, and just plain not remembering something just said and having to ask, "what did you just say to me?" over and over and over. It's amazing my family hasn't bonked me with a 2x4 yet! And I do feel like an idiot.

I know that I'm not an idiot..I got a college degree in accounting, I passed the CPA exam all at once, I joined my father's practice and after 6 years we expanded and incorporated and I was vice-president. We had to move to accomodate a larger tenant so I drew up the floor plan for the new office space and supervised every step and ran the move all while working, and I was an officer in a civic professional charitable women's organization for which I went to China and stood on the Great Wall for heaven's sake...the last 2 years that I worked I produced more income that my partner did and I also brought in more new business, all while single momming my precious daughter...I'm not an idiot...I was about to enter graduate school for a Masters in Taxation...I scored 630 on the GMAT, entrance exam, 90%. My sister does remind me of that, after she reminds me that she has 2 masters (MBA & Education). I was on track to build and then take over most of the practice and let my father wean off and retire.

"The best laid plans of mice and men..." (don't remember where that's from).....oh well for that.......this disease cutting me off at the roots at age 35 was not planned. And I have to remember it was not my fault (though I pushed myself and ran on adrenaline and 'didn't sleep well' for years and years). Yet I'm the one to live with it now and right now as I'm going off Paxil it stinks! (more than usual)

Hi, Judy. Just found your blog by searching Fibromyalgia April 2005.

Maybe you can use just the Tricks and Tips page of my site without disturbing anything you are doing now.
www.FibroFix.com/TricksandTips.com

Site is all free. Hundreds and hundreds now using this method.

Also - for pain - get Camphor Spirits. With the mercuro-chrome and bandaids in most drugstores. Little brown bottle only $3-$4.

Just wipe a little over the areas that hurt, are stiff, and over tender points.

Don't have to rub it in. Just wipe like putting on "war paint".

Take the lid off the bottle, but not the foil seal. Just put a small hole in it with a toothpick, etc. Put your finger over the hole and tip the bottle to put some on your finger.

Let me know when things get settled for you and I'll be glad to help you any way I can.

New Medicine Update- Alternative to oral meds/narcotics for Arthritis-fibromyalgia patients

Hello,

The Following information is being provided by SYA Press and Research, Inc. on a brand new over-the-counter medicated topical pain relief analgesic, called Corprofen™. We have seen exceptional improvement with Arthritic and fibromyalgia patients. This is not an analgesic derivative, it is topical medication.
Corprofen™ is a topically applied anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving cream. It is used to temporarily relieve the symptoms of osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, fibromyalgia, neck and low back strain or sprain, whiplash, muscular and joint pain, and some types of nerve pain.
The active ingredients are 3% Menthol, 2% LIDOCAINE (local anesthetic), 1% HYDROCORTISONE (Anti-inflammatory Medication) along with a Proprietary Transdermal Carrier used to transfer medication through skin. Unlike oral non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), it bypasses the gastrointestinal tract and is less likely to cause stomach upset, ulcer, and bleeding.
Corprofen™ was developed to provide an effective alternative to oral or injected pain medications. Corprofen is an easy to use, portable product available over-the-counter, to help alleviate inflammation, pain, and stiffness. During pre-clinical assessments of Corprofen™, many patients who used Corprofen™ for pain management required lower doses of oral medications.
Corprofen™, in pre-clinical assessments, has been shown to quickly and effectively alleviate musculoskeletal and myofascial pain and stiffness by reducing inflammation. A key difference between Corprofen™ and other topical pain-relieving preparations is Corprofen™ contains a combination of topical analgesic pain medication, an anti-inflammatory medication and a proprietary transdermal carrier which allows it to penetrate below the skin.
Corprofen™ has engaged SYA Press and Research, Inc. to conduct clinical research on the Corprofen™ products. The company is a recognized leader in the publication of medical research and information in a patient-friendly format.
Many facilities, including the University of Miami medical center are using Corprofen for many different cases and conditions to relieve pain. Please be sure to inform your members and patients about this brand new alternative now available.
Pharmacy locations have just recently begun to make Corprofen available to patients. We hope to expand the availability in the coming months. In the meantime I can be directly contacted, regarding any questions about the product, how to obtain samples, additional literature or research information. I can be contacted by email at bpcorprofen@hotmail.com

I have been told that I have fibromyalgia symptoms. I have constant head aches, sore shoulders and neck, lower back and my feet hurt all the time. No matter what shoes I wear. Massage seems to help a lot but the pain always comes back. Doug Kaufman says that yeast and fungus causes a lot of our diseases. I believe it. I took lots of drugs when I had TB. I had an infection that hurt terrible right after my second child was born. The doctor gave me something that got rid of it quick. I believe I would have died if I hadn't taken it but I would imagine that it was antibiotics. I also got on birth control pills at that time. I started getting headaches from any stress a few years later. I quit taking birth control pills because I had heard they could cause head aches. I got pregnant with my third child then. By the time he was 3, I had a sign of cancer on my womb. I had horrible cramps during my period and was glad to get the hysterectomy. I had 3 yeast infections after the hysterectomy. I finally took acidophilus capsules and got on a better diet and the yeast infections went away and didn't come back until I took 1 diet pill. I couldn't get rid of it then until I took a lot of vitamin C with the acidolphilus. The more I exercise the stiffer I seem to get. The doctor gave me Celebrex and amitryilin. It helped a while but seemed to affect my thinking too much. I won't take that again. I have decided to live with the pain and depression before I take medicine. I thought I didn't have yeast since I didn't have a yeast infection, but I guess you can have it and not know it. I am trying now to stop eating sweets and bread. I love them and it is taking a while. I am taking probiotics, olive leaf, oregano and other things that are recommended. If anyone knows of anything else that has helped them, I am sure we would all like to hear it.
This has been going on since 1970.

my husband had a heart attack in 2003 since then he has recieved 7 stents. He has small vessel disease. He has sever pain every day in his chest, he says it feels like a knife stabbing pain straight through his chest he also has pain in his neck and hips. He gets up in the morning feeling fine but after a few chores around the house his pain starts and he has to lay down. He is currently taking lortab for his pain,it sometimes helps. His doctors don't seem to think he should be in so much pain but he has tryed everything we can think of and nothing seems to work. He has even gone to the hospital on a few occasions with pain thinking he was having another hart attack thats how bad it is. He can't enjoy any phyical activity at all even going for a walk he has to stop and rest for a few minutes so his chest wont hurt so much. We are going to try another Dr. tomorrow in pittsburgh, he is just so tired of hurting. Any ideas.
Thanks, DE

DO NOT listen to the woman named ANNE HILLEBRAND. She is a fraud that is currently being investigated by the AMA, Private Investigators, State of Florida investigators and many others. She is nothing but a medical fraud. She has NO medical experiance, no TRUE knowledge, has sent NUMEROUS people to the hospital and doctors due to overdosing them.
