Low Blood Pressure
My husband suggested I take my blood pressure because I'm so tired. We've had a machine for about two years. So I got it out, took my pressure and it was 85 over 53! I freaked out and started Googling blood pressure to see how dangerous that was. I found that optimal is now 115/75, and lower than 90/60 is a problem. Uh oh! Time for more research before I go back to the doctor.
Low blood pressure is blood pressure that is so low that it is causing symptoms or signs due to the low flow of blood through the arteries and veins. When the flow of blood is too low to deliver enough oxygen and nutrients to vital organs such as the brain, heart, and kidney; the organs do not function normally and may be permanently damaged. It should be noted that unlike high blood pressure, which is defined on the basis of blood pressure alone, low blood pressure is defined primarily by signs and symptoms of low blood flow. In fact, some individuals may have a blood pressure of 90/50 and have no signs or symptoms of low blood pressure, and, therefore, not have low blood pressure while others who normally have a blood pressure of 130/80 may develop symptoms and signs of low blood pressure if their blood pressure drops to 100/60." I guess it depends on whether or not you have symptoms, but I think 80's is too low.
Is this why I'm so tired??? I've been taking the pressure every hour and it stays in the 80s. There was even one in the 70s. I'm becoming obsessed. Can't figure it out. I thought it was fine. It's always normal at the doctor's office. Maybe the machine is faulty, but I doubt it because my husband's numbers are fine. I'll take it to the doctor's visit and compare to their machine.

did you get anywhere with this? i have the same problem... but i saw no answers on your question...
I have a b/p reading of 92/53, I exercise regulary and feel fit and normal.
As long as you do not show symptoms like dizzyness of faintness you are healthy.
One way to test your self is to take a b/p reading sitting, lying down and standing. If all 3 show little change in results then there is no need to worry. If there are large differences in the reading then see your doctor.
I fogot to add. your b/p is unusually low, it could be that you have not put it on correctly, also home devices are not as acurate as the doctors. you should also note that tiredness can come with age.
Hey! i had a few things to say, i know a lot about low blood pressure (i am only 21 and battling this horrible symptom) so i know a lot about it. one is that it does make me want to nap all the time..and i cannot stand for long periods of time, when i shower it is such a task that i have to lay in bed afterwarns or else ill faint. when i goto the hospital for it, well heres my thesis, 75% of america is overweight correct? well people who are obese tend to have HIGH bloodpressure, so the hospitals get a lot of patients with high blood pressure, heart attacks from it, etc, so when i come in feeling like i am on my death bed, and my BP is "80/45", the nurses and doctor say "oh whatever youre LUCKY you have low blood pressure, consider it a good thing because MINE is always high, everyones is always high", it angers me because its not MY fualt everyone elses is high, and mine is low constantly to where my life is 90% affected by it, so just because mine is low does not mean i am lucky, because as you have probably read, low BP can lead to coma and death, so yeah. heres my STRONG words of advice and i swear it will help you SOSO MUCH.....
coming from someone who goes to ER twice a week for low BP...i can hardly stand, shower, walk, stay awake from it, i feel weak, etc.........here is my miracle drug,....SALT. salt in right amounts gently raises the BP to a safe normal level. i went from only being able to stand for 45 mins a day before dropping.... and always feeling sick and tired....i started putting one tablespoon of salt, in a waterbottle, i dont drink it STRAIGHT (and by all means it does taste like ocean water), but ill drink whatever water i want all day but have that salt-watter-bottle by my and take 2 gulps like every so often....it is a MIRACLE i tell you..... i can walk for HOURS at a time now, i start feeling shakey, weak, tired, i drink like 5 gulpsof salt water, and almost a few minutes later feel FINE. it is such an easy fix and if you are suffering from low BP by all means try it, seriously, i hope it helps you out because i know how you feel .
another thing to know, are you really skinny? because only athletes/reaaallly skinny people have 'normally low BP" and unless you are a great athlete, having CONSTANT low blood pressure is a symptom of something bigger, like hypothyroid, addisons disease(what i have) or something else, so when a doctor says "be happy its low, thats great im jealous" dont take it and get a second opinion and demand to know what is going on. i hope this helps.!!!
Thank you so much, Mary Roe! I share your frustration with drs!! My symptoms and experience reflect yours exactly! I feel like I have NO life! I also have hypothyroid as well as a tumor on my thyroid and the drs. Don't believe that is why I'm tired! So, I'll take your advice on the salt. I noticed I feel good when I drink Gatoraid. Also, I purchased some sea salt at the health store that I will start taking. It's Sea Kelp. The endoctrinologist told me I don't need it because I'm on 100 mcgms Levothyroxine, but, after reading your testimony, I'm going for it.

can rh neg.blood cause a problem for a heart transplant. and also low blood pressure?
