NAET Hasn't Helped Enough

Well, it has been awhile. Shawna, I'm sorry I didn't get back to you sooner. You asked if I had had success with NAET. A few months ago I think I would have said yes, but lately I think my answer would have to be that it hasn't helped enough to really make me feel much better. I have just kept getting worse and worse.

I think it has helped with some of the allergies, but I have been having to come to terms with some basic facts.

I spent a year and a half of misery clearing all those things (NAET is hard work) and spent thousands of dollars. After my last treatment with Lisa I was not feeling well and called her for advice. She was in a hurry and basically dismissed me. I thought we were "friends" after all that time. But I was obviously wrong, because she has never even called to see if I was O.K. I never made another appointment. So I guess it was basically just business for her after all. I should know as much by now. Stupid me! I usually always think the best of people.

So bottom line: Yes, I think you can clear some allergies with NAET. But the whole time I was thinking that once my allergies were gone I should be better. But that has not been the case. I forgot something. Why have I developed all these allergies? What is the cause? I have just been attacking the symptom, not the problem.

I have always believed that all the penicillin, birth control pills, allergy shots, etc., caused this, but I still thought I could just rid myself of the allergies and be fine. (Can never get rid of all the outdoor allergies with NAET because they change everytime the wind blows.) Now I have to figure out where to go from here to get to the root cause and attack that. I have been miserable for almost twenty years now. But I will not give up.

Lately I have been listening to Dr. Robert Marshall's radio show online. Very interesting. There is a new half hour every day and an hour on Saturday. Give it a listen and explore the site if you have a chance. Interesting bio on him. I have been listening for weeks to get a feel for his philosophy, and am considering finding a practitioner.

OMG, I am sorry to hear that. I'm *very* happy with my results so far & I'm currently thanking my lucky stars that I've been mostly pain-free for months now! Definitely update with whatever you try as you're definitely on the cutting edge in that regard.

I think the biggest problem with NAET is that there is so much variability among the practioners. After my first failed attempt at finding the NAET doc for me, I've found one I'm *very* happy with. He really goes the extra mile for me & I consider myself *very* lucky. His background in Tibetan Medicine helps too & he uses it quite a bit.

Anyway, you rock & keep up the good fight! You'll find your fix I think. :)

Hey Lady, what's been going on? Have you had luck in finding something new? I'm still on the up & up & continuing to improve. I'm hoping I'm one of the lucky ones.

HI there, I used to receive NAET treatments and I can sympathize with the treatments as well as the 'fun' avoidance periods. (When avoiding eggs, i was eating sushi thinking I was scott free. I put a luscious bite of lobster tempura roll in my mouth and my dining companions said "Isn't there egg in tempura?") We do something very similar, but with no avoidance period. I think we are the only clinic in the usa who treats in this way (see www.aaeclinics.com or call us at 303.996.4663)

Why indeed have you developed all of these allergies to different things? I thought I was allergic to just about everything until a few months ago when I came across the above site, which is not just about food additives, but some of the natural chemicals in foods, and the chemicals in cosmetics. It turns out that all of my "allergies" were caused by just one or two chemicals that are found in a lot of different foods and all cosmetics. I have no allergies now, my eczema and rashes are gone. I really hope you will check out this site thoroughly, because your symptoms suggest you may have a salicylate or other chemical sensitivity, which is causing you to be allergic to everything. Best of all, you won't have to spend any money to try it! Follow the instructions on this page: http://users.bigpond.net.au/allergydietitian/fi/diet.html

Hello, I too thought Naet was helping me. I had about 7 treatments including one for progesterone. At first, I got alot more energy and alot less migraines. (I also went on progesterone cream, which could have helped all by itself without Naet). After getting through these treatments, I developed Ulcerative Colitis. This is a very serious disease thought to be related to allergies or autoimmune disorders. It necessatates the removal of the bowel in about 40% of cases. I have been to the hospital twice in one week and now I am on medication which costs $400 per month and this just controls the symptoms. I am on a very strict diet, have lost 17 pounds in only one month. If I try to eat too much, it just goes right through me. I definitely feel that Naet has ultimately made me much worse. I would love to hear it if anyone else has experiences like this. I hope my warning helps some. Most of what I find on the internet sings the praises of Naet. I wish I was more careful.

I received Body Restoration Technique, which is basically NAET for the endocrine system from an accupuncture practitioner who also incorporated acceupuncture into the treatments. I was receiving the treatments after severe hormone fluctuations, probably due to a lower back/nerve injury a couple of years before. Things seemed to be progressing along throughout the weekly treatments received for 6-9 months, but then my therapy hung up at "plastic,"and my body totally freaked out. Overnight, a massive hemorhoid flared up, and I couldn't keep any food down and was so weak that I couldn't get out of bed. My lower back hurt so bad I couldn't sleep except almost upright in a recliner.

I began to see the acupuncture doctor daily at that point in an effort to alleviate what had turned on. After two weeks of daily treatment with the symptoms not getting better, I decided that I needed to get better before any more treatment.

It took a month before I could get out of bed, and then my hair starting falling out. After almost going bald in some spots, I began using thyroid supplements and progesterone cream and slowly started to recover. My hair started to grow back in, though in some spots, like near my part, the hair seems to fall out almost as fast as it grows back in.

I have not continued the treatments, particularly after a borderline diabetic friend of mine went to the emergency room for a first ever insulin shot during the treatment, which then she also ceased.

Within a few months, I started having allergy attacks to new substances. I am now on a gluten-free, almost dairy-free diet. I have continued to experience hormone fluctuations, and my hair still sheds, though I use the thyroid supplements and progesterone cream regularly.

I do not know if the practitioner performed the therapy correctly. All I know is that I am not willing to go back to her for anything and tell my story to anyone who asks me about her therapy. Has anyone else experienced anything like this?

A friend has recommended JMT. I am interested in trying it so see if it will resolve my problems.

I'm really sorry about all the negative responses you have had to NAET.
I was totally lactose intolerant for 15 years (6 months after giving birth to my first child). Within those 15 years I gradually became "allergic" to more and more. Finally before finding a naturopath/MD, I had only about 5 veggies, 2 meats and some grains some days I could eat. I was extremely paranoid, had no energy, cried all the time, had huge mood swings, major anger. I had the runs at least 3 times a day, so no energy. I couldn't concentrate or remember anything. It got so bad I couldn't balance a checkbook because I couldn't remember what I was doing. I thought I had alzheimers. My daughters were 16 and 12. I thought my husband was such a bad father that he couldn't raise our daughters well if I died. I had actually considered how to kill myself and my daughters.
I finally found Dr. Fried. He's a naturopath/MD. He found out I had systemic yeast. He got the runs to stop and pumped me up with supplements so that my body could actually use food. I was malnourished and had a bacterial infection in my small intestines. My thyroid was basically no longer functioning. We got that all cleared up (and the yeast) after about 1 1/2 years of special diets and meds (mostly herbs, some pharmaceuticals). My thyroid healed itself and I no longer take thyroid meds.
Once my body was functioning at a somewhat "normal" rate, I began seeking out other alternatives. That's when I found NAET. Yes it was difficult, yes it did take a long time, yes it was expensive (my insurance didn't cover it or most of the previous Doctors' treatments), but it worked great for me. I do think that my body had to be in a repaired state for it to have worked. If I had gone for NAET treatments prior to finding Dr. Fried, I don't think I would have gotten as good of results as I did, or possibly any results at all.

I can now eat anything I choose to, although I choose NOT to eat many things. I have also cleaned up my living spaces and lifestyle. Good health is definately a lifestyle change. You can't continue to put chemicals in or on your body and expect good results. Your body's immune system will be fighting all the invading chemicals you are using on it, and it won't have much left to use on viruses and bacterias. It simply amazes me how many chemicals you pour on your body. If you wouldn't eat that hand cream or hair dye, why use it? If it's on your skin, it goes into your skin, and into your body. Just because a product is for sale, you don't have to buy it. Even "healthy" products have many chemicals (some polluted and adulterated) that our bodies don't need. The "cleaner" you can keep your body and enviornment, then your immune system will have "more" left to work on other things.

I know you don't know me, so don't think I'm being mean. I look back to how ill I was and determined that at the time I finally found Dr. Fried, if I wouldn't have found him, I would have been dead in three years, and in a psych ward or nursing home in about 2. I was in really bad shape.
I'm so passionate about good health and healthy living. But I'm not a health nut. My motto is "your body only cares what you do 90% of the time". I have been on the road to good health for over 10 years. One thing I've learned is that good health is a journey, not a destination.
We as individuals must take responsiblity for our health. Allopathic practioners don't have all the answers. That's why it's called a "practice". They can only help us with the knowledge they have been taught.
I'm truely sorry you don't feel helped by NAET. I think you should be grateful for how far you've come, not dissapointed by how much further you have to go. Feel blessed by the Almighty One, that He is calling you to something higher. Your body will no longer tollerate all the contaminates that alot of people can. Believe me, that IS a blessing! He is trying to clean up your body to bless you with a higher level of something. The cleaner you get, the higher you can vibrate, the more open you will be to His calling. Whaterver that may be, I don't have the answer.
NAET DID work for you. You're just not as healthy as you want to be. So, pray about it, and listen. You WILL get an answer.
I prayed when I was sick. I was shown Dr. Fried. I prayed for a higher level of healing. I got a sick pet that took me to an alternative vet. That vet practiced NAET on my pet. I prayed again and found an NAET practioner 2 hours away. I visited that practioner for 1 year. I prayed for a closer practioner. I got one 7 minutes from my home. I prayed for a higher level of healing. I'm now learning about parasites and electrical elimiation of them. I'm also learning about live blood cell testing.
You will continue to get better if you choose to. Just remember to be a blessing to those who come after you.
Blessings on your journey!

I have made it through the top ten NAET treatments (I was told that it is important to treat the top ten first)and I am now working on other food items. Also, it has sometimes taken more than one treatment to overcome the specific allergy. In addition I have a surrogate for anything I am worried may cause a strong reaction. And lastly there is one food item that I am so allergic to that I may never be able to be treated for it. I hope this helps.

How many times were you treat for the same allergen until it "held". My daughter has had two treatments to rid her of eggs and neither worked. How many more times should I let the doc try it?

NAET saved my life in 1998. I feel like I, like others, would not be here if not for this answer to prayer. I've been treated for over 150 allergens, and YES I do get discouraged that other's pop up, but it is an answer...it's helped me to live and is MUCH better than the meds the allergist had me on before . It is work, but that's life and the hand I've been dealt.

I still search for "THE" reason my body reacts this way, but until I find it, I praise God for bringing NAET into my life.

Don't give up, those of you who are discourgaged. Keep pressing on and be thankful for what's available...

I am pasting below a post from a woman who has been a huge source of moral support for me and has provided me a great deal of useful information that helps me stick to the difficult but useful approach of NAET.
good luck everyone. wishing us all good physical and spiritual health.

Dear Friend,
These are my learnings about digestive health. I hope you use them to your advantage.
Lesson Number One: Don’t ignore the warning signals.
Often, eating something I was sensitive to would make me bloated, or tired, or constipated for a day, or my bowel movement would be a little softer than usual. These were warning signals that I used to ignore. Today I know that if I continue to expose myself to something I’m sensitive to, I could develop an allergy which may eventually display the more serious symptoms of bowel disfunction which in my case involved urgency, frequency and blood.
For instance, I had been eating large quantities of fruit for breakfast
every morning for six months. I used to feel tired after breakfast. One day
after having started a juice fast, I got diarrhea. Juicing the fruits meant
that I was consuming the juice of approximately four pounds of grapes in one sitting, because that’s how many grapes it takes to make one cup of juice.
After ignoring the symptoms of tiredness from the fruit at breakfast for so long, naturally the even bigger fruit serving, of grape juice, caused my system to finally break down, leading to the allergy symptom of diarrhea with urgency. The lesson learned is that I shouldn’t have ignored the tiredness I’d felt after eating fruit for breakfast.
Lesson Number Two: Don’t eat the same thing everyday, or eat huge amounts of the same thing in one sitting.
Another lesson learned from that incident is that people with colitis can’t over expose themselves to anything without becoming allergic to it and developing symptoms. After I discontinued the grape juice, I continued the fast with diluted rice porridge, and vegetable broth without incident, so I know it wasn’t the reduction of calories, but the concentration of fruit
that was the culprit.
Lesson Number Three: An episode of allergy symptoms to one item will weaken your immune system, sensitizing you to other items, which then become triggers.
A third lesson learned, is that allergy triggers can spread, causing a
downward spiraling effect to the person’s health. For example, during that juice fast, my allergic reaction to fruit lead to an allergy to the
vegetable juice as well. In the end I had to get treatments for both fruits
and vegetables to resume a normal diet. People with colitis are like people
with sinus symptoms from allergies, the difference being the part of the
body that gets hit. While the dust might be the original cause of the
sneezing, it then spreads to perfume becoming a trigger, and then cat hair… or in the case of my bowels and that juice fast, first the fruit, then
vegetables… And the more often it happens, the more allergies, until
everything becomes a problem. When I first had diarrhea, six months before
my first attack, I’d been drinking lots of coffee. I cut down on coffee, and
the diarrhea stopped, until I started drinking it again, which is when I had
my first attack. After my first attack it didn’t take long for me to discover I could no longer have dairy products. Then after the dairy caused
colitis attack, wheat became a problem, and oats, and nuts, and garlic, and onions. With every attack, there were more triggers, as I became weaker, and weaker, until it seemed I couldn’t eat anything.
Lesson Number Four: Allergic reactions are often the result of two triggers, not one.
In my case there were two obvious examples. I would only get sick from tea, while in my apartment. Drinking tea in my apartment meant that it wouldn’t be long before I’d be running to the bathroom. While drinking tea at
Starbucks, however, I never had a problem. The reason for this was that my apartment was full of incense (perfume), and the combination of two things to which I was sensitive, proved to be too much for my system. Another example was the tomato based chicken soup. I was fine to eat chicken on its own, and tomato juice on its own. But as a combination, I’d be running to
the bathroom all morning the next day. Colitis, in general, is food
allergies caused or exacerbated by environmental allergies.

Getting Rid of the Problem
1. Keep a record of what you ate at what time, and what happened the next day at what time. Include the time you went to the bathroom, the level of “looseness”, the level of urgency, and the level of mucous or blood, all three of which should be rated on a scale of one to five.
2. Try abstaining from whatever you ate and see if the symptoms gradually subside.
3. Sometimes if you abstain for long enough (about a couple of months), you can go back to eating it without having to get an allergy treatment.
4. Keep a record of what was in your environment at the time that you experienced urgency. Were you opening a drawer where you keep perfume, or doing laundry, or using heavy duty cleaners for the housework, or reading the paper, or around mold or dust or grass, or putting on makeup, or deodorant or moisturizing lotion… ? These are some examples of environmental allergens.
5. In my case, I had to go for NAET (allergy treatments). To discover what I was allergic to, in addition to the records I was keeping, I was given a test by means of holding an allergen in my left hand while the strength of my right arm was tested. After discovering what I was allergic to I’d receive a NAET treatment which consisted of holding the allergen while getting a massage on my spine with a hand held object. I would then avoid the allergen for twenty five hours, after which I would no longer be allergic to it. Because I had had so many attacks without treatment, I had a lot of food allergies. People who haven’t had a lot of attacks can stop the downward spiral (of the spread of allergic triggers) if they either treat the original trigger, or avoid it immediately.
6. If you find that you are experiencing symptoms on a regular basis, you may already have more than one allergen, in which event it might be difficult to pinpoint the culprit. If that’s the case find a practitioner
who does NAET treatments. Environmental allergies which can cause food allergies can be hard to detect (example: some people are allergic to their carpet, or radiation from their T.V. or computer), so it’s advisable to get tested. It may very well be that once you discover the environmental
triggers, the food allergies will go away on their own. This was the case for me.
7. To rebuild the digestive tissue (which is irritated in the case of people with colitis), I took an amino acid complex and a special amino acid called N- acetyl glutamine, to replace what would have been prednizone in order to stop the inflammation, I took quercetin, to aid in digestion I took enzymes, and to restore the healthy flora in my gut, I took a small amount of probiotic (gets rid of mold and yeast infections).
8. Common food allergens are wheat, corn or corn based products, nuts, eggs, beef, apples, gluten, garlic, onions, spices, citrus, dairy, caffeine, alcohol, chocolate…be on the look out for these things.
9. If you are having an attack, be gentle on your system. Don’t eat raw food, high fiber food like uncooked cereals, beans or lentils, or nuts, or deep fried foods, citrus, onions, garlic or spices. Cook your food, and even puree them if need be, till you’re back to normal.
10. Once you get back to normal, once again, pay attention to any warning symptoms from food or your environment (tiredness after eating something, or dizziness after using floor cleaner, or reading the paper, constipation or soft stools…). These are warning signals that people often experience long before they get a problem that’s a problem (with their bowels). As mentioned above, don’t eat huge amounts of anything in one sitting, and don’t eat the same thing everyday. For instance. I love the wake-up effect of caffeine. I drink tea on some days, and Greens Energy plus on other days. I eat rice as a starch on some days, bread and pasta on other days, or a little bit of everything on the same day. When you notice something unusual, like constipation or soft stools, try to remember what you ate yesterday, and avoid it for a while. Don’t eat while you are experiencing other allergy symptoms from the environment. Eg. When I’m dizzy at the print shop from the ink, I leave and wait till the dizziness goes away before I eat something.
Last but not least, for all you know, for you it might be a matter of a
process of elimination, and then temporarily abstaining from the culprit for a while, or if you can’t do without it, getting a NAET treatment for that specific allergen. If the symptoms are frequent however, chances are that you have more than one allergen, in which event, I would recommend you see a Naturopath who does NAET treatments and get tested, and have them decide if you need any supplements. For this reason I supplied a description of the testing, treatment, and supplements (which I now no longer need), so that you could compare your naturopath’s treatment to one that worked (mine). I hope all this comes in handy. Bon Apetit!
