Hurricane Katrina donations for animals
One of our biggest concerns is taking care of the animals who are also victims of Hurricane Katrina. Here are a couple websites where people are taking donations to help the animal victims:

Today we cleaned out our closets. Mae even cleaned out her toys. It was kind of hard for her. But she still did it. She was thinking of other children who don't have any toys and that helped motivate her.
I wish so much that I could go to New Orleans and help out more somehow there. I just feel like donating money and supplies isn't enough. I want to BE there. I want to be with the people, especially the children. I want so much to go COMFORT. I want so much to take the children into my arms and rock them and comfort them, and give their parents time to rest. I dont want them to hurt anymore.

we also feel like we want to go and be with the people who have suffered so much, i personally would take in the animals as well as some people, it would be crowded but we would manage,i just want to know??? from what i've heard on the news they are the red cross is sizeing the 18 wheelers full of clothes food toys, ect. and wont let anything get through except money??? is this true?????
I am not sure. The news about hurricane Katrina and New Orleans has gotten so confusing. Maybe you could contact the Red Cross and find out specifically where you could volunteer?
Hi Sweet Gal,
I too feel my heartstrings pull each time I see the refugees, especially the children. We have thoustands who were relocated to Phx. They've all got homes now.
Right now all I can do is donate several hundred dollars of new AVON peronal care items, and I got a letter thanking me for a cash donation, which means I was spending $ on the computer during the night and don't remember it! Not that I have a problem making a donation, but I have a problem not remambering it!
We can do the most by each doing our own little bit. A friend volunteered at the coliseum where the refugees were housed and she had a remarkable story. There was an older woman who was so grateful to be alive but so sad that when the rescue people got her, she was clutching the family Bible, and they wouldn't let her bring it. My friend scoured antique stores and found an old leather bound, family Bible, and took it to the lady, who was overcome with the kindness, as was her son.
Now that stuff and $ have been donated, I feel Prayer is the best support I can give to the refugees.
Love ya, Judy

I think what you are doing does help many people. And it is appreciated by those of us reading it too. It helps us realize there is still more closet space we can sift through, or pantry items we don't really need.
