Adopt-A-Classroom and OPRAH Magazine
Caroline wants to put a plug in here about a program we read about in OPRAH magazine this week. There is a program found at JNYINTHECLASSROOM.ORG that has programs such as Adopt a Classroom. You can sponsor classrooms there and adopt different schools, teachers, and classrooms.
Well, we registered our school and classroom. There are several of the schools in our city who are registered.
Our school has children from Hurricane Katrina there and is also in an impoverished area and could use a sponsor.
The money isn't given to the teachers ---sorry, no sudden trips to Hawaii ;) ..... it is used to buy materials that the children need for their classrooms.
I know that a lot of people read our journal here. On the off chance that someday, someone wants to support a classroom full of special-needs children....
you can e-mail us for the name of our school, our the name of our city. I love my students so much. I wish I could talk about them here more openly but because of privacy reasons, I can't. But those of you who know me know that I talk about them all the time.
If anyone would like to adopt our school or our classroom, please contact us at Everyoneinside@hotmail.com for the name.

And I know how much of teachers' own money goes into their classes, and how much some outside support would help. It's a hard job, though a great one, and even harder when you have to deal with "stuff". My hat's off to you. I hope you get many, many sponsors. The Real Me
