Mouse Mammary Tumor Virus Linked to Breast Cancer
A link has been found between a virus that infects house mice and breast cancer in women. The mouse mammary tumor virus (MMTV) is more prevalent in Africa than it is in the United States. 36% of breast cancers that were tested in the U.S. tested positive for a gene similiar to MMTV compared to 75% of breast cancers tested in Tunisia.
