Day 24
Can't believe it has been 3 weeks already. Last Sunday when I did my 2 week weigh in I was at 65 1/2 kilos while Ross was at 65k, so the weight is balancing out nice and slowly. My next weigh in is tomorrow so I will note it here on the blog. I really like the way my clothes are fitting me better. Ross and I are still having strong cleansing reactions which include digestive problems of cramping, nausea and generally upset stomach. Don't feel like eating much and anything we do eat is very simple. We will definitely have to invest in a Vitamix blender as all the blending of nuts and seeds and especiallly coconuts is very hard on your standard domestic blender which just doesn't cut it - you can't get the necessary creamy consistency.
We tried a raw cauliflower dish this week with a mushroom sauce but the stomachs couldn't handle it yet. I think we need to keep it simple for a while longer until our tastes adjust a bit more. Still enjoying the food anyway and have absolutely no desire to head back down the cooked food route. Even though our tummies are going through their thing at the moment we are still, in other ways, feeling better - sort of lighter and clearer on all levels. More than anything I love being free of food cravings, attachments and desires.
My relationship to food feels a whole lot heathier. We just see this early part as a necessary cleansing, not a reason to stop. My eyesight has been very poor over these 3 weeks and so as time goes by I am hoping for great improvements. Emotionally we are not as irritable and grumpy as the first week and find we both handle stress a lot better. Don't have a lot of energy yet with the tummy upset so not feeling like running out the door to the gym yet, aren't even walking as much as I used to. Our muscles just feel tired.

I just want to say how brave this is of you all. I know how raw food can mess with the insides not from a long time of doing it but just for a day or two. I remember feeling like the roughage was as big as an elephant moving slowly and quite uncomfortably through my intestines. Anyways I just want to say that's I admire your journey! I'm so far from being as healthy as I used to be. It's inspirational to read about your journey!

You both sound very committed and I congratulate you both for this but I have to ask: is it normal to have stomach cramps and uncomfortable bowel movements a month into this diet? And lumps!? It just doesn't sound right to me. How can you just assume everytime you feel bad that you are just "cleansing"...? Are you getting help / advice from an experienced practioner / Dr.?
I would be worried. Hope it all works out for you.
