Going NUTS over nuts

I love love love nuts and they love IBS. Reading all the IBS guides (the few contradictory ones there are) I know that nuts is not on the top of the list for digest-friendly fare. However, in my experience, I've been relatively safe from their mal affects. My favorites are cashews, their buttery crunchy texture calls out to me in honey roasted and raw, and black sesame crunch.

Recently I found out what can happen when you overdose (IBS wise) on nuts. Yes, you can definitely overdose. Spend one week eating a bag of nuts every day and you will find that the nut oils have separated and teamed up with your defunct colon. Since sesame are seed, they don't really digest and end up fortifying your waste with plenty. Cashews turn into a funky greenish oil and your toilet will suddenly perform a reprisal of the Exxon oil spill.

I have so much self control with other food products, but this one is a doozy. Go on a binge and you'll be regretting it for sometime.

Yup--been there, done that, got the T shirt. Cashews are the worst offenders, as they have much more fat than, say, almonds. Nut fans should look up the nutrition values of particular nuts, and choose those low in fats.
