Was this last part supposed to be lose weight instead of gain?

No, it means what it says. Read the article properly. Cashews are advantageous to weight loss as those people who do eat them are less likely to gain weight than those who don't. Hence if you eat cashews, which are high in dietary fibre, in comparison to other snacks, they will keep you full and satisfied whilst providing essential fats and oils; a key factor in an attempt to manage or lose weight.
