Enviga Investigation Opened in Connecticut

Filed under Health Fraud | Comments (2)

envigaConnecticut Attorney General Richard Blumenthal has launched an investigation into a new green tea drink marketed by Coca-Cola and Nestle called Enviga.

An Enviga Web site claims that the drink's blend of green tea and caffeine burns more calories than it contains and can help drinkers maintain an ideal weight. According to a Nestle study, young people who drank three of the 12-ounce beverages a day burned an average of 106 calories.

Blumenthal says he wants to see the studies and the science behind the claims. At the same time, the Center for Science in the Public Interest has filed suit against Coca-Cola and Nestle over Enviga's health claims.

The slogan for Enviga is "Be positive. Drink negative."

I think I'll just stick with regular green tea.
