Ginger for Pain ReliefRecent studies have found that ginger may be an effective treatment for pain relief, especially if the pain is in the muscles. Research is still being completed on this topic, but here is what has been discovered so far on ginger for pain relief.

Strenuous Exercise Muscle Pain Relief
Using heat-treated or raw ginger on a daily basis can be an effective way to reduce the pain that is occurring as a result of strenuous exercise. The American Pain Society published a report in The Journal of Pain documenting these findings.

Anti-Inflammatory Properties
Multiple studies have found that ginger has anti-inflammatory properties, which is likely the reason that it helps to reduce muscle pain.

Analgesic Properties
Additionally, studies have also discovered that ginger has analgesic properties which react in a similar way as medications such as nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory over-the-counter drugs. The benefit is that a person can experience the pain relief without the side effects that often occur as a result of medications.

Ginger vs. Placebo
A study that was completed at the University of Georgia as well as the Georgia College and State University showed that ginger is more effective when compared with placebo pills. This study looked at the efficacy of using ginger to reduce muscle pain relief, and a large amount of participants experienced a reduction in muscle pain relief when they were using the ginger.
