Broccoli can be kept fresh for quite a long time if you know the right tricks for storing it. Here's how to store broccoli in order to keep it fresh for as long as possible.
1. Keep the broccoli in a plastic bag in the crisper section of the refrigerator. Fresh broccoli may be stored in the fridge for as long as a week, but just be sure that it doesn't have any mold or and hasn't turned yellow.
2. If you aren't going to eat it within a week, you may consider storing broccoli in the freezer to use later. Wash it, chop it into bite-size pieces, throw away the thick stem, and blanch the broccoli in boiling water. Then, cool the blanched broccoli in ice water and drain it.
4. Cooked broccoli can be stored in the fridge for a day, but it often loses its texture so it will not be as good the second day.
Remember that cooking decreases the nutrition of broccoli and it removes some of the enzymes it contains. So, eat broccoli with as little cooking as possible whenever you can.
