Meat and Milk from Cloned Animals?
Filed under Frankenfoods | Comments (1)
It seems that we as a species move further and further away from natural food with each passing day. From the Washington Post:
The Food and Drug Administration is expected to rule soon that milk from cloned animals and meat from their offspring are safe to eat, raising the question of whether Americans are ready to welcome one of modern biology's most controversial achievements to the dinner table.
The following part is what makes me laugh:
Studies have shown that meat and milk from clones can't be distinguished from that of normal animals, although work is not complete and researchers say that clones do suffer subtle genetic abnormalities.
So these animals suffer "genetic abnormalities" but we should be assured they are safe to eat? It seems like they are already set on doing this and are just trying to figure out a way to get the consumer to "accept" it.
Maybe if we as a society refuse to accept and purchase these kinds of Frankenfoods, they will stop creating them. Yeah, I know I'm overly optimistic.

It really is a shame the things that we are fed in this society... whatever happened to natural products? Sad...
