Hormone Therapy Increases Risk of Bone Fractures in Prostate Cancer

"According to results presented at the 2004 annual meeting of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), hormone therapy, also referred to as androgen deprivation therapy, increases the risk of bone fractures in men with prostate cancer that has not spread to distant sites in the body."

Rheumatoid Arthritis Study, Lumbar Fusion Surgery

A study shows increased levels of blood markers years before the onset of rheumatoid arthritis symptoms.

"Surgeons at the Cedars-Sinai Institute for Spinal Disorders describe in the August 1 issue of the journal Spine a minimally invasive approach that enables them to perform fusion surgery on the difficult-to-access upper lumbar region of the spine with a reduced risk of serious complications."
