FDA Warns Pregnant Women Against Accutane

FDA on Tuesday announced a new plan to strengthen efforts to prevent pregnant women from taking Roche's acne drug Accutane and generic versions of the drug, known as isotretinoin, USA Today reports (Rubin, USA Today, 11/24).

Protein Behind Skin Cancer Identified, Lupus Biomarkers Found

"Scientists at The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center have identified a protein that serves as a master regulator of skin cancer. The findings could lead to new ways to check the disease in its preliminary stages."

"Protein biomarkers that could lead to earlier and more accurate diagnosis of the autoimmune disease lupus have been identified by University of Pittsburgh researchers."
