Post-polio Syndrome

Post-polio syndrome (PPS) is a condition that affects polio survivors 10 to 40 years after their initial polio infection. Symptoms include progressive muscle weakening, fatigue, joint pain, muscle atrophy, and scoliosis. While many cases of post-polio symptoms are not serious, some people may develop serious symptoms that have a debiliating effect and reduce quality of life.
