Good morning!

I had a good weekend, how about you? My stomach bothered me a bit but not bad, not bad at all! I think the one thing that really does bother me about this illness is not the medicine or the pain but guilt. The possibility of my children maybe having this one day since it is hereditary and all. I don't even like to think about it. I have never told anyone my actual fears, so this is a first. It is not even about me........Gotta go and take another round of Colazal.

Oh and one other thing before I actually do get up to take my meds, I have to thank Tracy for allowing me to contribute here at HealthDiaries! It is really a great feeling to just be able to talk about something that bothers you, not having to hold back any kind of information, which I often do in real life.

Hi Leslie :)You may be getting this after your trip, I'm not sure.I have an adopted cousin, Katy, who is now 25 and just married this summer, She was dx'd with UC in her Jr year of HS. She was hospitalized off and on for awhile, they don't talk details, but I think it had to do with excess bleeding and dehydration and tests to deterimine the severity of her UC. She's a firecracker though and bounced back and continued to be a cheerleader and very active student, and on to college. In college they started treating her with steroids and she was named to the homecoming court and she quit taking her meds because they made her put on weight and get the steroid round face. Well after the big night, and she was her year's princess, yeah!, she took such a dive she was helicoptered from Fayetteville Ark, where the U of A is to the hospital in Little Rock, where they could best help her and where her folks are. We were really concerned for this long/sudden hospitalization. She was a beautiful bride, radiant, and as usual you'd not know from her bubbly energetic presence that she is ill. Like you, and others with life changing serious illnesses, she's doing her best to live with it and 'get along' with it. I wonder if she can/should have children. As her oldest cousin of course I worry about her and love her so much.I have to say also that my husband is also diabetic, type 1 since age 3, and had a stroke in 1999 at age 37 leaving his left side weak. Last year we spent over a week in the hosp in July and again in October. He was diagnosed with Diabetic Gastroparesis, neuropathy in the digestive system was causing it not to work. It's treated with drugs for motility (move stuff along) and stool softeners and laxitives, and he ends up getting hit with 2 hours of bathroom time usually in the evening. I hate that he has this condition because he is tied to the commode. The bathroom card sounds like a lifesaver, having been in malls and 'having to go' and being told no on their private bathroom and to walk the entire mall to teh public one. Cudo's to you on the card!!I'm posting under chronic pain, fibromyalgia, come visit if you like, and I'll check back here with you.Hugs, Judy
