Kylie Minogue was diagnosed with breast cancer in May 2005 and underwent a partial mastectomy, radiation, and chemotherapy. She was in remission by 2006.
In 2006, she spoke to Sky One about her breast cancer experiences. She said, “I love to say: ‘You can get through it. You can.”
In 2007, she said she was terrified her breast cancer would return.
“Your body and muscles have a memory of the way it was when you were sick and there are definitely times when I float back to that place. I had migraines a few weeks ago and I just went, ‘Yeesh – no, please.'”
She reflected on her 5 year anniversary of being cancer free in 2011 in an interview with Molly Meldrum:
2016 marked the 10 year anniversary of her being given the all-clear from cancer. She told her fans:
“Today marks my official 10 year ‘all clear’ from breast cancer. Naturally, my nearest and dearest were at the forefront of my mind. Behind the tears were relief and thanks and thoughts. Thoughts of all those who are making their way towards this landmark, those who are past the landmark and of those who we sadly miss.
Today, 12 years after being diagnosed, Kylie Minogue remains cancer free and is working on her 14th studio album which will be followed by a tour. She remains an inspiration to women of all ages, prompting them to be tested for breast cancer and, when the diagnosis is positive, showing them an amazing example of strength and grace in the face of adversity.
