Using ginger supplements can be an effective way to reduce nausea and multiple studies have found this supplement to be a great remedy regardless of the cause of the nausea. Here are a few of the studies that have looked at the efficacy of ginger for nausea.
Ginger with Anti-Vomiting Medications
The University of Rochester Medical Center did a study to look at the effects of ginger when it is paired with anti-vomiting medications. The study found that nausea can be reduced by as much as 40% when these are used together.
A report published by the University of Maryland Medical Center talks about several studies that researched ginger and motion sickness. Most results showed that ginger is an effective treatment to reduce nausea from motion sickness nausea, although a few of the studies showed that ginger was not quite as effective as nausea medications.
Chemotherapy Nausea Reduction
Several online sources talk about ginger as a good treatment for nausea related to chemotherapy treatments. Some people have found relief from this treatment, but additional studies need to be completed in order to determine the efficacy and safety of using ginger during chemotherapy.
Many people experience nausea after they come out of surgery and the studies are still inconclusive about the effectiveness of this treatment. In fact, some of the studies are actually conflicting in their results: certain studies showed that ginger was an effective treatment after surgery, while others found that it may in fact increase vomiting after surgery.
