Boiling corn on the cob is the best way to prepare fresh corn without drying it out or detracting from its delicious flavor. Here’s how to boil corn on the cob in four easy steps.
1. Prepare the corn by husking it and pulling off the hairy threads. It is best to wait to husk the corn until right before you are ready to cook it. If the corn is husked too early then it will lose some of its freshness.
2. Fill a big stockpot with just enough water to cover all of the corn and bring it to a rapid boil on your stovetop over high heat. Once the water begins to boil, add the corn ears and cover the pot with a lid, then let the water return to a boil.
3. When the water begins boiling again, let it cook for 3 to 10 minutes depending on how soft you like your corn.
4. Immediately remove the corn ears from the water with tongs.
Season the corn however you like and enjoy.
