"Write about my illness? Yuck!"

One of my daughters started a blog recently. She's 32 and her blog contains thoughts and happenings in her life. She described it to me as a "blog about nothing." She's an interesting and creative writer and I thoroughly enjoy reading her entries. She suggested I start a blog, "You could write about your illness." I e-mailed back - "My illness is the last thing I would want to write about!" Ironically, a few days later an invitation to write on this "health diaries" forum came to my yahoogroup - and the idea suddenly sounded pretty good. I've always enjoyed writing in a journal. Since I've been sick, I haven't had the energy to write much of anything except when absolutely necessary.

I am really taking my first steps on this long road. I have been diagnosed for 4 months. During that time, I have looked around on some Lyme websites and joined a Lyme yahoogroup. There are reams and reams of information to read. It's a choking amount of information. This is an extremely complex disease and takes a huge amount of time to get through some of the published material.

A few months ago I received a newsletter from one of the Lyme websites, wildernetwork.org. I read the whole thing a few days ago and found a very interesting article on how the borrelia moves around in the body. It was by Tom Grier and I really enjoyed his writing. It was easy to read and understand, so I currently have a favorite "Lyme writer." Today I went to the wildernetwork.org website and found an archive with 7 or 8 previous articles by Tom Grier and printed all of them to read in bed later.
