He Is A Super Hero..

Well, my son still thinks he is a super hero and is going to save the world from the evils of ET.  I know this is schizophrenia doing the talking in him.

Today he is supposed to be started on new anti-psychotic meds.  I have no idea how long it will take for them to kick in and work.  They took 4 mos to get out of his system....I only hope it doesn't take that long for them to do their work in him now.  I miss him and I have got to get myself ok with him living in a group home.  With the help of God and supportive people in my life I will try to be strong for the sake of my family.  I am needed to hold things together.

Dear Kathy,I'm so sorry to hear of your son's relapse. I haven't had any experience with schizophrenia in my life or friends or family. Learning what it's like through your words and heart is enlightening and heartbreaking.I'd bet you wish your son had never seen the harmless movie ET. And I'm glad he believes he has Rocky on his side. Bless his heart, and yours. You're both in my prayers as you go through this battle. And I'll keep checking in here to see how you are doing.Hugs, Judy

Kathy,I, like the previous reader have not had any experience with schizophrenia, but recently have found myself trying desperately to learn of people's experiences with the illness.I recently found out that my first love who I still care for very much, is living with schizophrenia, only he doesn't know that I know. I haven't seen him since I heard, but I do know he has been admitted to the local hospital twice since I found out, for not taking his meds.I am overwhelmed with a deep sadness and feel very helpless. I cannot even imagine what this must be like for you, and for your family but I am so grateful that you are open to sharing your experience with others. Therapeutic or not, you are brave for sharing, and are having an impact on how other view schizophrenia. P.S. how old is your son? how long ago was he diagnosed?
