Hepatitis B

Hepatitis B is an infectious disease caused by the hepatitis B virus (HBV). The virus attacks the liver and can cause cirrhosis, liver cancer, and liver failure. It can be spread through unprotected sex, sharing of drug needles, or from a pregnant mother to her child. According to the Hepatitis B Foundation, 1 in 3 people have been infected worldwide with Hep B, 400 million people are chronically infected, and 10-30 million new cases arise each year.
