Hormone Replacement News

I got so caught up in the biopsy etc., that I never posted about the test results I got back the day before. DHEA was fine so I'll stay on 5 mg. Testosterone was normal. Cortisol was a little high. That indicates stress so I guess I should stop watching the news! Progesterone was low normal and estradiol was really still low. So she doubled my prescription to .250 Triest with 75 mg. progesterone. She said the estradiol has to be higher if I want my sex drive back. It's not just the testosterone that you need. Why do some women not have this problem? I talked to someone over the weekend that is not on hormones and her sex drive is fine. My doctor intimated that really is not the norm though.

The prescription came Wed. so I started on the new dose, but by Sat. I was not feeling too well. Then on Sunday I was exhausted, had a "hot head", and was close to tears all day. So I called the office Monday and she said it was probably increased too much too quickly and to cut back a little for a week.

So that's what I've been doing for two days but I'm still so tired I may cut back to the old dose for a week and then start going up again. I guess when you haven't had your hormones for four years it takes your body a while to adjust.

I'm supposed to retest again in six weeks.

I have found that the most physiologic way to help women feel their best and to prevent osteoporosis, improve cardiac risk, return sex drive and mental fn and energy, is the subdermal implantation of bioidentical estradiol and testosterone in pellet form. This therapy has been sorely neglected in the US probably because of the dominance of Premarin. It's like putting in a new tiny ovary. Pellets last for 4-6 months and insertion is fast and painless. Hormone levels are measured before and after implantation. We try and return women to the hormonal state of their mid-30's. We seek an FSH level 70. Results in my practice have been excellent so far. The procedure is well-documented in the medical literature for 50+ years. In a recent study of 976 women using subdermal pellet therapy with estradiol and testosterone over 10 years, there was not a single new case of breast cancer, ovarian cancer, or uterine cancer. Right now, there are not yet a lot of doctors who do this type of therapy, but I'm sure the number will be growing soon. I think you should consider trying it. I'm hoping to have my website up soon, www.PelletTherapy.com, but until then, you can go to www.SottoPelleTherapy.com for more info, or just do a Google search with words like bioidentical hormone pellet subdermal implants. Good luck!

There was typo in my last post. It should have read that we try and achieve an FSH level below 25, and a total testosterone above 70.

I am actually a patient of the above mentioned doctor who posted. I had so many hormone problems especially with endometriosis and fatigue. He was the only doctor who checked all hormones including testosterone. I've been on his hormone pellet therapy and haven't felt this good in many years. I strongly recommend Hormone Pellet therapy. My Dr is the best one I've ever had. The testosterone which I had none to speak of as well as estrogen added via pellets has solved alot of problems with no side effects. It's painless, low cost and you feel great! Plus, if you get him as your doctor, he's got a great bedside manner with good listening ears. Finally, he doesn't overbook to make all the money he can in an hour, you get his time, and trust me-it's worth it. Wish I'd found him sooner. I spent several miserable years from hormone problems no one addressed properly if at all. It did alot more for me than I ever dreamed, and for me that is a Godsend. Women need testosterone for energy, libido, heart protection and more. I'll be staying with him and the skin pellets. I highly recommend pellets to anyone.

This is very interesting. I was on the pellets for several years until I got insurance with a company that doesn't pay for the therapy. I'm on estratest tablets and believe me, there is no comparison with the pellets. After reading this, I have decided to get the pellets again even if my insurance doesn't pay! I felt so much better and looked so much better while on the pellets. I'm 58 now so I need all the help I can get. Thanks

I have been treated with hormone pellets for 7 years and have only the very best to say about this treatment. I was a wreck before the pellets. I tried everything that you can imagine to get balanced. After a hysterectomy and weight gain of 60 pounds I did some really serious research and found a doctor who worked with the hormone pellets. within 3 days I started feeling better, after 5 years of feeling like someone else lived in my body. I had the problem with lack of sex drive prior to treatmentas well as horrible mood swings. Now Im very well balanced hormonally as well as in my moods and have lost all of the weight I had gained. Best of luck and hang in there it gets better

I had multiple symptoms that were not good ones.. a compound clinic put me on progesterone, I felt better.. for awhile. Then the symptoms started returning. I got my hormone test done and says my cortisol was low, testosteone was high.. and was given a medication to block the testosterone, and taking birth control to help with the rest. I still have not ever felt right. Ive been to 2 doctors during this whole thing and I just get brushed off.

I started hormone replacement therapy (Pellets) in March. I have never felt so good. I had a hysterectomy at a very early age and am now in my middle forties. I was tired, achy, and always in a bad mood and had no sex drive. I had a hard time finding a doctor that does this type of treatment. I used HRC.com to find my doctor. My health insurance will not pay for the treatment. They will pay for it if you are a male. How stupid is that. I have had to pay for the treatments out of pocket. They are not that expensive. It's worth it whatever the cost just to have my life back.

I see where several of you say its not the expensive. Would you mind sharing with me what your costs are? I went to a clinic yesterday for a free consultation and the cost was close to $3000 for a yrs worth of treatment (blood work, testing, insertion etc) and that seems like a lot to me, especially since ins doesn't cover it. They said that some insurance companies cover a percentage, but that I'd have to pay first, then file to get reimbursed. Thanks!
